Is golf a good sport for kids? in leau of soccer or little league.?
I have an 10 year old boy and 11 (turning 18) year old girl. The boy went to Karate for a few years and got bored. The girl did the ballet for some and lost interest as well. I think they are too old to start playing little league or soccer at this point. Most of the intermurals locally seem to stop at 12. I can’t see getting them involved in a sport they will only play for a year or two (plus they would be pretty far behind at this point)
I have never played golf myself, but I wish I had when I was younger. Seems like a sport that you can play all your life and open up your networking skills with in business. I have been wanting to learn myself and am thinking that this may be a great sport for my children to get involved in.
In college, I would imagine there are very few who know how to really play well which should give them a leg up.
I think it would be best to start them out practicing at the driving range for a few weeks before tying up the green.
That would be a good idea. Golf would help them to learn discipline and grace. Plus, if you take lessons too, it would be a great bonding experience for you and your kids.
